WE WILL DEPART WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Psalm 139:16-17
Our mortality sometimes reminds us of itself. A serious illness, a near-fatal accident, or the death of a loved one reminds us of the finite nature of life. The Psalm implies that we will live neither a day more nor a day less than what has been written in God’s book. God imposes those days for our ultimate good. The Psalm speaks of God knowing them, not predestining. He knows our present and our future, and he knows the moment when he will call us home. Those who belong to Jesus need not fear that moment. The Father knows everything and arranges our departure. Jesus himself comes to meet us.
