SERVANTS OF GRACE
I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.
Ephesians 3:7
When you take stock of the successes along the path of faith and realize that you have accomplished very little to advance the kingdom of God, remember this: your salvation is not measured by your deeds, but by grace. Deeds are your own; grace is the heartbeat of God. Deeds do not save; they are the servants of grace. Grace saves and inspires deeds according to the skill and strength that God the Father provides. Deeds and grace, these two must be kept distinct. For the reason that grace may remain what it is, God’s incomprehensible gift, and that deeds may exist not as instruments of salvation, but as expressions of gratitude to God for the great gift of grace.
